National Hockey League

All-Star Game

Event: NHL All-Star Game

Site: Scotiabank Arena, Toronto, ON

Date; February 3, 2024

Networks: ABC/ESPN, CBC, Sportsnet, TVA

Satellite Radio: SiriusXM NHL Network Radio

The next true All-Star Game will be in 2027.  Special events are being held in 2025 (4 Nations Faceoff tournament) and 2026 (Olympics Kickoff Event at UBS Arena, Elmont, NY).

National Broadcasters

Canada (English)

For Canadian clubs, all national TV games are exclusive.

Rogers Broadcasting - In 2023-24, the tenth year of a 12-year deal with the NHL, Rogers Broadcasting owns all national rights to broadcast the NHL in Canada (and, under a deal that lasts just as long, will subcontract "Hockey Night in Canada" to CBC). They are providing coverage three days a week. Saturday games are under the "Hockey Night in Canada" brand. HNIC airs on up to five networks every Saturday night. Every game played by a Canadian team on Saturdays will air on one of CBC, SportsNet, SportsNet ONE, SportsNet 360, and CityTV. Network assignments will be released approximately 4 weeks ahead of games. One game every Sunday night is "SportsNet Hometown Hockey", with MacLean hosting the game broadcast from a different Canadian town each week. In some cases, doubleheader games air on SportsNet ONE. The "Scotiabank Wednesday Night Hockey" package is on SportsNet,. Some ESPN and Turner Sports games will air on the SportsNet regional channels (East, Ontario, West, Pacific). Rogers is also the regional rights-holder for 3 1/2 Canadian teams (Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, and half of Toronto's regional games).

TSN - Bell's cable network holds regional rights for 3 1/2 teams (Montréal, Ottawa, Winnipeg, and half of Toronto's regional games). See each team's listing.

Canada (French)

Rogers Broadcasting - Rogers has sublicensed their French coverage to TVA Sports. TVA will carry 22 Montréal games nationally (opening night, all Saturday night games). Félix Séguin and Patrick Lalime will call those games. Sébastien Goulet is the #2 play-by-play announcer, with Alain Chainey and Alexandre Picard serving as backups on colour. TVA also get the Winter Classic and any other outdoor games, all Stanley Cup Playoff games, and the All-Star Game. They expect to split 200 games on TVA's three networks.

United States

Disney - In 2023-24, the third year of a seven-year deal, Disney's ESPN arm airs national games. The network will produce 25 games on ESPN and/or ABC, and an additional 75 on ESPN+ (simulcast on Hulu). Locally-produced games will air on ESPN+ as part of a replacement for NHL.tv. ESPN and ABC will air half of the first three rounds of the playoffs. ABC will air four Stanley Cup Final series, in the even years of the contract (meaning they get the 2024 Final). ESPN will air the traditional opening-night doubleheader and the All-Star Game. Sean McDonough starts as lead play-by-play commentator, Steve Levy is the main studio host, and John Buccigross, Leah Hextall, and Bob Wischusen will also call play-by-play. The analyst roster includes Brian Boucher, Ryan Callahan, Cassie Campbell-Paschal, Chris Chelios, Rick DiPietro, Ray Ferraro, Hilary Knight, Barry Melrose, Mark Messier, A. J. Mleczko, and Kevin Weekes. Disney is going through major cost-cutting and it's expected that many of the names listed here will be released in the summer of 2023;

Warner Bros. Discovery - In 2023-24, the third year of a seven-year deal, WBD's Turner Sports arm broadcasts national NHL games. Turner Sports will produce 75 games for TBS and TNT, including a Wednesday series on TNT and the Winter Classic, as well as half of the first three rounds of the playoffs. TNT airs the Stanley Cup Final series in the odd years of the contract, giving them three Finals in this contract. All games are streamed on max. Kenny Albert and Ed Olczyk form Turner's lead broadcast team. Brendan Burke and Darren Pang are the #2 team. Analysts include Wayne Gretzky, Anson Carter, Rick Tocchet, and Paul Bissonnette. Liam McHugh hosts.

NHL Network - Based at the MLB Advanced Media studio center in Secaucus, NJ, the network is available on digital cable tiers across the US, carrying a mix of live and tape-delayed games. They are expected to pick up one Hockey Night in Canada game each week plus local broadcasts. Under the NHL Showcase banner, the league airs a slate of weekend afternoon games that it is producing (instead of picking up an RSN broadcast, they are picking up RSN video and overlaying their own graphics and announcers). Stephen Nelson (most games) or EJ Hradek will do play-by-play with Mike Johnson, Mike Rupp, Brian Lawton, Dave Reid and Kevin Weekes rotating as analysts.

NHL Network (International) - Syndication arm of the NHL outside North America. Steve Mears and Kevin Weekes annually call the Stanley Cup Final for the network.

Satellite/Digital Cable

NHL Centre Ice - A subscription package, showing all out-of-market games including Rogers coverage, to American viewers with the DirecTV satellite system or many digital cable systems.

Satellite and Terrestrial Radio

SportsUSA - SportsUSA signed a four-year deal in 2021 for national radio coverage. Games will be aired on SiriusXM, a terrestrial network, TuneIn, and SportsUSAMedia.com. They are confirmed to carry the outdoor games, an opening-night game, and a couple of key late regular-season games. They will carry at least one playoff game most nights.

SiriusXM Satellite Radio - NHL Network Radio is on channel 91 on Sirius, XM, and SiriusXM radios. SportsUSA games will air on NHL Network Radio, and SiriusXM will produce its own All-Star Game coverage On XM and dual-band SiriusXM radios, games are on dedicated channels 219-223 (plus other available sports channels). On Sirius radios, games share space on play-by-play channels 212-220 (plus other available sports channels). All subscribers get games online on channels 920-951, with the 32 channels assigned to each team in alphabetical order (Anaheim on 920 through Winnipeg on 951). In January 2023, the deal was extended through 2028-29.

Webcasting

NHL.com - The NHL has put "Listen Live" links back on their Gamecenter pages.  It's fed as a constantly-updated playlist with short bursts of the broadcast.  You can use the radio station links below as well.  The Gamecenter feed cuts out as soon as the game goes final.

ESPN+ Power Play - The NHl's streaming partner, featuring all locally-produced games on ESPN+'s basic tier. ESPN+ will not air games that will air live on TNT, TBS, or NHL Network (but will archive them for replay). ESPN+ produced games will simulcast on Hulu.
